Observatorio Intermodal Hub (CETRAM)
Mexico City, Mexico
OTC has been leading the mobility planning of this major new gateway to Mexico City. Currently serving as the terminus of Metro Line 1, a local bus terminal, and a large intercity bus terminal. This intermodal hub will be vastly expanded to include two more Metro terminal stations and the terminus of the new regional rail line to Toluca, as well as safeguards for an Airport Express rail line to Mexico City’s new international airport (currently suspended). The planning process involved close coordination across federal and local agencies and 4 separate design teams working in parallel on different aspects of the infrastructure.
Passenger flows are optimized across the site, providing seamless intermodal transfers, easy local access, and direct transfer between all the Metro lines within a unified, rationalized paid area. The mobility master plan for the intermodal hub also features two new bypass road tunnels, kiss & ride curbs, taxi and shared ride curbs and staging areas, and mobility provisions for fully-integrated commercial development, including parking, service roads and loading facilities.
