High-Speed Rail Station Intermodal Integration
Fuzhou, China
OTC developed an intermodal master plan for the area surrounding the new high-speed rail station in Fuzhou, Jiangxi Province, on the line connecting Nanchang and Hangzhou.
Integrated facilities are planned for BRT and local bus, a long-distance bus terminal, taxi, private cars, bicycles and motorbikes as well as a bus depot and transit hotel. The proposed design provides for 17 different intermodal journeys within a contiguous pedestrianized zone, at a high Level of Service. Road alignments in the station area were adjusted to allow smooth vehicular flows for all modes.
A new retail arcade at the station’s arrivals area will benefit from intermodal footfall. The station plaza, a feature required by local authorities, will remain largely intact.
As part of the project, OTC developed a concept design for typical stations for a new BRT line proposed for Fuzhou.
