Hung Hom Rail Station Redevelopment Master Plan
Hong Kong SAR
OTC was a specialist transport master planning consultant on this study for redeveloping the Hung Hom station and surrounding area, following the construction of new MTR rail lines.
OTC’s concept designs included improvements to pedestrian and vehicular circulation and connectivity to abutting neighborhoods, relocation of public transport facilities, and the migration of government inspection facilities (CIQ) serving the Intercity rail service to Mainland China.
New public open space connected the station pavilion area, the Hong Kong Coliseum, and a new waterfront promenade and recreational pier, previously being used for container storage as part of the existing freight yard. Commercial development was proposed to be built over existing rail yards and in space vacated by the freight yard and old MTR platforms, and include office buildings, a hotel, shopping, food & beverage, and entertainment facilities to form a new destination for locals and tourists alike.
