Purple Line Marine Transport Interface
Dubai, UAE
OTC developed concept designs of water transport terminals to be integrated in Dubai’s Purple Line Metro stations abutting waterways, including 3 stations providing airport check-in facilities. The marine interface accommodated up to 4 vessel types of varying capacity, with separate facilities for scheduled ferry and water bus services and on-call water taxis and “abra”, a traditional local boat used for canal crossing.
OTC’s scope of work included planning of intermodal connections to ground transportation, and architectural integration of water terminals with existing station designs at three of the Purple Line stations. Two phases of development were planned for in each location.
