Metro Line 1 Villa Zaita Interchange

OTC developed the planning for the winning design/build bid for this new station, part of an extension of Line 1, which will serve as an interchange station between Metro, regional buses, and a large park & ride facility.
OTC’s innovative solution for this intermodal hub reversed the reference design by placing the bus terminal on top of the parking structure, thus providing same-level transfer between buses and the Metro without any road crossing. Other planning moves included reconfigured station concourse; rationalized access from parking to the Metro entrance; dedicated areas for private vehicle, taxi and TNC drop-off, pick-up, and staging; and modified road layouts around the station area, including an underpass along the Carretera Transístmica, to facilitate rationalized bus and car turns and recirculation.
