Bus Terminal Complex Redevelopment

Guadalajara, Mexico

The Terminal Central de Guadalajara is one of the largest intercity and suburban bus terminals in the city. Comprised of 7 different terminal units, three of which are not in use; an abandoned commercial complex; and a large surface parking lot, the terminal complex is dated and utilized inefficiently. A station on the recently built Line 3, located just north of the terminal, is not designed to provide direct access for passengers.

OTC studied opportunities to redevelop parts of the terminal complex in order to improve multimodal transport access, including both LRT and local buses; develop integrated commercial development serving bus passengers; and create opportunities for stand‐alone commercial development on parts of the land freed up as a result of more efficient utilization of the bus operational areas.
