Transit-Oriented Development (TOD)

We have successfully carried out the planning of commercial developments around transport hubs, leveraging mobility for commercial success under a “win-win” formula.

TOD typically refers to urban planning practices which encourage development with easy access to public transport. Unfortunately, oftentimes insufficient attention is paid to the physical integration of transport facilities, in particular intermodal transport hubs, within the urban environment which they serve, as part of the TOD master planning. Careful planning of the station area is essential for maximizing the benefits of TOD - positive user experience, vibrant urban spaces, and successful commercial development.

OTC’s interdisciplinary approach takes all these aspects into account. In developing mobility master plans around transport stations and intermodal hubs, we consider not only the public transportation functionality, but also urban space and the mobility needs of surrounding commercial developments, such as drop-off/pick-up, parking, loading and servicing.
