Kandy Bus Terminal Design Review

OTC conducted a review of the reference design of a new bus terminal planned for the center of Kandy, next to the city’s train station, to be incorporated in design/build tender documents for the project.
OTC analyzed both vehicular and intermodal passenger flows, identified areas of concern, and recommended specific design modification to to avoid bottlenecks and provide consistent passenger Level of Service. Design changes included bus maneuvering and parking areas, platform sizes, location and configuration of vertical circulation, and width of passages and concourses.
