Kwun Tong Public Transportation Interchange

OTC assisted in the final design and commissioning of the larger public transport interchange (PTI) in Hong Kong, integrated in the new Kwun Tong Center development next to the Kwun Tong MTR station. The PTI is an intermodal hub arranged on two levels, serving full-sized buses on the upper level with indoor waiting areas accessed directly through a shopping mall, and minibuses on a lower level. A future bridge will connect the PTI directly to the MTR station.
Based on a survey and detailed analysis of all intermodal and local origin/destination flows, OTC developed various deliverables including franchised bus route allocations, queuing arrangements, automatic door operations, static and dynamic signage plans, an analysis of contingency scenarios, and a public information kit for the PTI commissioning.
