BRT and Rail Intermodal Integration

Medan, Indonesia

OTC developed intermodal connectivity concept designs for two new BRT stations located near the main rail station in Medan, the third largest city in Indonesia.

OTC’s final design integrates and accommodates the flow of passengers transferring to and from the railway and BRT through the introduction of seamless, user-friendly connections between the stations. It also improves the pedestrian experience between the eastern and western areas of Merdeka Walk, a major attraction and gathering place for the city.

OTC also proposed enhancements inside the existing railway station to improve general urban connectivity, providing both transit passengers and the general public a direct pedestrian link spanning the tracks.
